In laser eye surgery with Femtolasik, a flap from the corneal tissue is removed with a laser. Knives are not used. A laser is applied to the tissue under the valve and the flap is closed.
– ADVANTAGES
The patient can see well enough as soon as the laser application is completed.
Pain, burning or stinging is not observed or is very short-lived.
No loss of workforce.
Allows high diopter corrections.
– DISADVANTAGES
Cannot be applied to thin corneas.
Damage to the corneal sensory nerves predisposes to dry eye disease.
Changes in corneal biomechanics.
Reducing corneal resistance.
Temporary increases in intraocular pressure.
